Photographers of the second season of “Opportunity China Vitality Shandong”International Photo Festival visited Tengzhou Museum in Zaozhuang on May 20. Photography masters from different countries delved into the halls of bronze wares, ceramics, bronze mirrors, and jade articles to capture the charm of these cultural relics with their cameras, embarking on a cultural journey across time and space.
As a comprehensive local museum integrating history, art and humanities, Tengzhou Museum boasts abundant collection resources and has become a treasure trove for photography masters to explore history and capture inspiration.
In the Bronze Wares Hall, the masters were deeply fascinated by the exquisitely crafted bronze artifacts. During the Shang and Zhou dynasties, Tengzhou, as a land of three states and five counties, held a leading position in Shandong region in quantity of bronze wares. Photography masters meticulously captured images of these bronze artifacts from diverse angles and lighting scenarios, endeavoring to revive the grandeur of the bronzes through their lenses.
Stepping into the Ceramics Hall, a complete vein of ceramic development is displayed, ranging from the pottery of the Beixin Culture in the early Neolithic Age to porcelain of diverse styles across various periods. Photography masters weaved among the display cases, trying to record every detail of the ceramics through their lenses—whether the delicate glaze surfaces or the unique shapes, all were captured into their cameras.
In the Bronze Mirror Hall, five units divided by dynasties showcase the development of bronze mirrors—from their emergence in the Warring States period to their lingering charm in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Through the bronze mirrors, photography masters seemed to glimpse the living scenes of ancient people. They skillfully utilized the hall's lighting to capture the mirrors' unique texture and the historical charm behind them.
The event held profound significance. On one hand, the masters' lenses have spread the museum's precious cultural relics to the world, enabling more people to appreciate Tengzhou's long history and splendid culture. On the other hand, the museum's treasures have infused rich cultural connotations into photographic art, transforming photographic works from mere presentations of light and shadow into carriers of history and culture.
